The I-580 Truck Access Equity Explorer

Caltrans District 4 is studying the decades-old truck ban on I-580 — and what removing it could mean for traffic, air quality, noise, and safety for the communities along I-580, I-880, and I-238. The study will not result in change to the status of the ban or recommend keeping or removing the ban in the future.

This tool walks through the analysis conducted for the project: where pollution burdens fall today, who lives along the corridors, and how truck volumes, diesel particulate matter, and cancer risk could change by 2035.

Sensitive locations	Count within 1,000 ft	Schools, childcare centers, health facilities, and other sensitive receptors from the study's hub dataset, provided by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Proximity uses the same 1,000 ft threshold applied to the hub's point location.
